Tap Task Lamp
An adjustable task lamp that can slide up and down as well as swivel 360 degrees. This uses a rechargeable, magnetic tap light (link is in my Amazon Storefront). The light comes with a magnetic disc that sticks to the inside of the light housing.
I've included two bases, a short one and a tall one that prints in two parts and threads together.
A couple notes for successful printing:
- The set screw should be printed with a 99% infill
- The swivel light housing prints in place. The default seams will want to be placed on the inside corners of the swivel mechanism. I'd recommend painting your seams somewhere else to allow a clean gap on the swivel mechanism.
Supports Tree supports are needed for the USB-C charger opening. Supports are not necessary for the threaded hole on the set screw.
Scaling I wouldn't recommend scaling this one since it perfectly fits the tap light.
Orientation The light housing print upside down. The base, extension rod, and set screw print upright.
Print Settings .2mm layer height 15% grid infill (99% for the set screw) 2 walls

Just updated the files for the tap light housing (both ball and socket and print in place versions). Let me know if the updated file prints better! I tested it on my A1 and that line is almost completely gone.
I see this line very faintly on a few of mine as well. Matte Charcoal PLA from Bambu Lab has had the best results for me so far. I've only printed these on an X1C so far but I'm doing some tests on an A1 with different settings to try to minimize that line.
This is a super common problem with models that have flat top surfaces with walls that continue up beyond them. It's the same problem as the benchy hull line.
Printing outer walls first can help, but the print in place mechanism didn't work as well. I'm testing increasing the speeds for internal bridges and top surfaces right now. Hopefully that helps but if anyone finds settings that work well, please let me know!
Hi Brian, I would like to if this will work with the barrina growing lights? https://www.amazon.com/Barrina-Spectrum-Magnetic-Linkable-Dimmable/dp/B0DR2MLXCG/ref=sr_1_5_sspa?crid=2ZX5MVEIKJJCP&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.LyPaSqXdOmkyw0KyGDoy_uNYAqPwQZwFPPBe08vxSlLacXITQnUen6hIcCfLhP7ui8rq4nKQ3YVezjVbYU9bD4fV03WB4SoW8pL_-v5s7nxW11uY637CT8ILUm8cTp1kEcHEI8Zv1tvX4uOYpHHWJE5GTHMKMCA9uz9k1mrFfaVBWkwy07be1kKfCdDDR4LZcKsFmJaOo8c1EAyBp_Y5O7ripwfjPn1IGIUsMdMeQ0O7Kqzpx3BeRKohr0TBCQIQNTheJoGQ4xgnMqvkEk_Kt2OVforvWZF0Uq
I too would love if this would work!
Has anybody found somewhere which will sell identical lights into Europe?
If you can send me a few that are available to you in Europe that I can also get in the US, I'll make another version that fits them! I didn't realize the ones I'm using weren't available for our European friends.
what lights did you use? I was hoping to use these ones but they are slightly bigger. Would you be able to create a version based on these?
Hi Brian - Do you have plans to produce a version for The Rail or Horizontal Rail?
what the diameter of the lamps pole here? Could this be used on your other rails?
Am I able to mount the lamp on The Rail and where to but the lamps "DAZZY DOT Rechargeable Puck Lights" in Europe?
I'm also having problems with the swivel mechanism of the print in place holder breaking and not swivelling. After some looking around on the model. are the tolerances of 0.2 too small?
How do you recommend printing the ball point socket? Im having major issues of it failing midway and the threads not working with the set screw
Hello LoftedGoods,
Is it possible to make the file smaller so that it can be printed with an MK4? Unfortunately, the STLs are too high.
Thank you and greetings.
