Kanso Twist

Elevate your home with the Kanso Twist, a sculptural vase that embodies the beauty of kinetic movement. This piece features a mesmerizing array of vertical fins that spiral gracefully to create a dynamic, translucent silhouette for your favorite blooms.

Design & Concept: I designed the Kanso Twist to explore the intersection of structural rigidity and visual lightness. The name "Kanso" refers to the Japanese principle of simplicity, which I’ve expressed through a repeating geometric pattern that twists around a central axis. The vase is composed of thin, precisely angled slats that shift as you move around the piece, offering a glimpse of the stems inside while maintaining a sophisticated architectural form. It is particularly effective for showcasing orchids or dried arrangements, as the open structure provides excellent air circulation and a unique "framed" view of nature.

Key Features: Intricate Spiral Geometry: A series of vertical fins that twist into a flared, elegant rim. Visual Transparency: The "slatted" design allows light and air to pass through, creating a sense of weightless elegance. Functional Statement: Works beautifully as a centerpiece or an accent piece on a desk, especially when paired with elegant florals. Tactile Precision: The sharp, clean edges of the fins highlight the accuracy of modern 3D printing.

Hardware Required: None. This is a single, fully 3D printed sculptural model.

Printing Recommendations: Material: Matte Grey PLA or Matte White is highly recommended to achieve the architectural, plaster-like finish shown in the photos. Layer Height: 0.16mm or 0.20mm works perfectly to capture the crisp detail of the fin edges. Infill: 10–15% Gyroid. Walls: 3 Walls to ensure the thin vertical fins are sturdy and well-defined. Supports: * Optimized 3MF Settings: To ensure the best results, I have included a pre-configured .3mf file with custom support blockers and enforcers. I highly recommend using this file, as the only necessary supports are the ones already placed and optimized within the project to guarantee a clean finish with minimal material waste.
