Pulse Clock 25cm HDNC05

Dimensions Assembled: 250 x 250 x 35 mm (9.84 x 9.8 x 1.4 inches)

One in a series of bold wall clocks inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics, and the iconic clocks designed by the office of George Nelson for the Howard Miller Clock Company in the 50’s and ’60’s.

  • Requires a standard clock movement with a threaded shaft: 10mm (3/8”) diameter, 6mm 1/4” min. length
  • The clock dial is designed to use material efficiently, fast and easy to print. It includes a small hanging hook
  • Clock movements sold online or in hobby stores usually come with a set of hands of your choice. The length of the minute hand should be approximately 65mm from the center of the hole/shaft
  • The STL files include one set of press-on hands as shown in the pics. Follow the instructions below and in the pics to customize the holes for your movement
  • The hour markers snap-fit on the corresponding spokes. Use a drop of glue for a more permanent assembly.

Objects in the photographs were printed on a standard desktop 3D printer, without secondary operations.

Specifications and Recommended 3D Printing Settings

Required build volume: 250 x 250 x 22 mm

Nozzle: 0.4 Layer: 0.2 Supports: YES Infill: 15% Gyroid Scalable: NO Tested with: PLA

Press-on hands: The individual models for the hour and minute hands include a pilot hole. They also include additional reference geometry that automatically centers the pilot hole on the build plate (or right-click > center). Follow the instructions in the pic to use a cylindrical negative part to create the hole you need. Alternatively, you can carefully drill the pilot hole to the required diameter.

The tolerance of the hole will vary depending on the material used, printing settings, and other conditions. Typically, a hole 0.3mm to 0.4mm larger than the shaft diameter will work for PLA. You might need to print the hands more than once to get an optimal fit.
