A simple, elegant, and sustainable tissue dispenser that works reliably, clearly shows how many tissues remain, and eliminates the need to reach inside for the last sheets. It was designed for soft/bulk pack tissues—my preferred choice because they use minimal packaging and are less expensive.

It was inspired by dispensers commonly found in Japanese hotels, where a loose lid fits inside the box and presses gently on the tissues. As tissues are removed, the lid lowers by gravity, making the remaining quantity visible—ideal for hotels as a refill signal—and keeping tissues from slipping inside the box. I’ve always disliked fishing for tissues, especially with wet or dirty hands.

As the design evolved, I fell in love with the soft, whipped-cream-like appearance of unwrapped tissues. Instead of hiding them, I decided to make this feature the focus of the design.

The final product is a deconstructed dispenser: the tissues take center stage, resting on a tray that makes them easy to lift, carry, serve, and display. A fitted lid holds them in place, dispenses one at a time, shields them from dust, and prevents them from blowing away. When filled, the contrast between the fluffy white tissues and the clean, hard tray and lid creates a delicious, pastry-like appearance—worthy of the window of a Parisian pastry shop.

Because tissue sizes vary, three dispenser sizes are included. For best results, choose a model about 2 cm longer than your tissues, making the opening slightly shorter than the tissue length.

Print the model standing upright as oriented in the files, with no supports. This avoids shrink lines on the lid and tray caused by print-time differences between layers. It also creates a pleasing brushed texture on the top surface. Refer to the above model sizes for the required build volume.
