Wireless Drill Interchangeable Bit Storage Caddy

This is a storage caddy designed to hold 42 individual 1/4 hex shank drill/screwdriver/impact bits without them rattling around or falling out.

There are 10 individual interchangeable cartridges. 5 27.5mm cartridges for longer bits, drill bits, socket bits, etc. and 5 12mm cartridges designed for the common 1 inch drill bit. These include 1, 2, 3,4,and 6 slot cartridges (2x each for the 12mm cartridges) the magnets along with friction are capable of retaining longer bits in the 12mm cartridges but due to the way they mount I don't exactly recommend it

There is also 6 bit storage slots on the top side integrated into the caddy and the 12 magnets sticking out the bottom can be used to hold screws and such.

Materials: -Filament -66 (get more) 8x3mm neodymium magnets

This caddy was designed to attach via friction fit to the belt clip on my brushless Kobalt drill and impact driver but it can also be attached with an m4 screw and washer to other brands as well (not tested) I've also modeled the retaining clip to this drill and attached it too.

I designed this caddy to use 42 8x3mm retaining magnets with interchangeable cartridges that use 6 8x3mm magnets each. the 12mm cartridges use 1 magnet to hold 2 bits and the 27.5mm cartridges use 1 magnet each

both cartridge types attach via, you guessed it, magnets to the side and the internal caddy. The 27.5mm cartridges go inside the caddy sticking to the bottom and the 12mm cartridges attach to the sides. (the 27.5mm cartridges can go anywhere really but the 12mm ones cant go inside the caddy)

the 27.5mm cartridges are intended to be removable so you can store x amount of bits together (for example 4 drill bits in 1 cartridge and 2 torx bits in another and you can swap out each cartridge as needed) but the fit isnt perfect and might need some refining. I can remove mine but I use pliers to do so for the first 6.

I used some cheap PLA seems to work fine on 0.2mm with 15% infill probably wouldn't survive a decent drop though so something stronger might be better for you. The caddy needs some support for its overhang but the magnet slots and such don't really need supports.

When installing the magnets pay attention to the orientation of them. Ideally all the cartridges (S) should stick to all the magnets on the caddy (N).
