Octonauts Gup-G

Faithful recreation of the Octonauts Gup-G for 3D printing.

Has a working roller shutter door, wheels with bearings, magnetic door opening for the mouth part, rotatable tail, you can add 10mm LED lights, and space for a speaker to play the iconic Octonauts theme.

Please note, I made this several years ago and can't recall what all the standard parts were. If I recall there was a 22 x 7mm x M8 skateboard bearing in the tail and one in each tire, as well as a short M8 bolt and Nylock nut.

I used 2 x 10mm warm white LED's for the lights https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VJ9HW8L?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0, a 9V battery, some push switches and a little speaker and MP3 player to play the Octonauts theme tune. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0738NLFTG?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B089D5NLW1?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_2

There was a rectangular magnet placed in the space in the head, and another magnet placed in the mouth so that it snapped shut. There was also some spring and M4 bolts in the hinge of the head, attached to M4 threaded inserts attached to the body.

Slide and push switches were added to the dashboard in the head, then wired to the lights, battery, MP3 player and speaker. One Slide switch turned the battery on/off and the other slide switch was for turning the theme tune on or off. The Push switches were for controlling the volume. I haven't got a wiring diagram, so wiring is down to the creators ingenuity.

For the tail, I made a sub-assembly which I glued together, but may be possible to print on a colour printer now. Please note there is a bearing which goes into the main body, then a M8 bolt passes through that and into the tail, so the nut will be on the tail side.

For the roller shutter, I printed it at the time in PLA, but in hindsight TPU may be better as the PLA was sometimes a bit stiff to roll open or closed.

A lot of the parts can be attached with small M2.5 screws. The legs to body may have been M3. The Horns on the head can be slid on and glued.

All the parts were printed in standard PLA with standard settings - support added as neccesary. I used Copper, Orange and Grey PLA.
