NOT JUST SOME COASTERS @ Improved By Design
A set of six coasters with holder. When you are not using all six as coasters, two can become a phone holder:)
This project started with a simple question: Can a coaster be something else?
Usually coasters come in sets of 6 or 12. That way, when you have guests there are plenty to spread around. Also a 3d printed coaster can be a nice conversation starter at a cocktail party. But let's face it, you drink alone most of the times and you only need one coaster:) So what can you do with the rest? A phone holder of course:) That way you can enjoy your favorite show while having a nice cup of coffee.
With this multi-function coaster design you can take any two coasters and connect them together in various ways to get a phone stand that has multiple heights and angles and fits most phones in horizontal and vertical position.
TIPS
The Coaster and Coaster Holder come in 2 parts. You can split them to parts in the slicer and change the interior parts to print with 0 perimeters and 0 top and bottom layers. That way you can display the infill pattern in all it's glory.
Optionally, you can pause the print after the 2nd layer and change the filament color, or do any other crazy combination if you have a multicolor 3d printer.
For the Coaster Holder, you will find 2 small cylinders in the 3mf file. Those cylinders were used to properly align the honeycomb texture with main body.
