Project Update – Modern Tablet and Phone Stand with Hex Pattern

Project Update – Modern Tablet and Phone Stand with Hex Pattern

Hey makers! 👋 I wanted to share a bit more about the design process behind this dual phone/tablet stand I uploaded recently and get your thoughts on a potential version 2! Why the Hex Pattern? Those hexagonal cutouts aren't just there for looks, they help reduce material usage and printing time while maintaining structural integrity. The internal curves and base were carefully designed to handle real loads, and the wide stance ensures excellent stability. Engineered, Not Just ModeledBefore uploading, I ran a finite element analysis (FEA) to simulate the stress distribution under the typical load of a tablet and phone. You can see in the images how the stress is evenly spread across the base and support wall, it holds up beautifully. No supports are needed for printing, and it prints great in PLA. What’s Next?I'm exploring ideas for version 2 and would love your feedback: Adding a slot to mount a wireless charger Slightly modifying the design to also support a laptop Keeping the aesthetic clean and minimal, maybe even introducing modular parts? What do you think? Would you like a version that also acts as a laptop riser or charging station?Let me know your ideas in the comments.
