Spill the Tea Fidget

It’s always fun to spill the tea - so naturally I thought it would make a great fidget ☕️

Dimensions of assembled Teacup: 2 ¼ in. x 2 ¾ in. x 1 ⅔ in. Dimensions of Plate: 3 ¼ in. x 3 ¼ in. x ⅓ in.

Instructions for 3D Printing the Twisty Tea Insert piece: PLA or PETG work great 0.2mm Layer Height Outer Wall Width 0.6mm Inner Wall Width 0.6mm X-Y Hole Compensation 0.05 mm Elephant Foot Compensation 0.15 mm Arachne Wall Generator turned ‘on’ 0% Infill Outer Wall Speed 50 mm/s Inner Wall Speed 100 mm/s

Note: I add a modifier (small transparent yellow cylinder) to the screw part of the insert to increase its infill and make it stronger.

Instructions for 3D Printing the Teacup: PLA or PETG works great 0.2mm Layer Height Outer Wall Width 0.6mm Inner Wall Width 0.6mm Arachne Wall Generator ‘on’ Order of Walls ‘outer/inner’ 15% Infill Outer Wall Speed 50 mm/s Inner Wall Speed 100 mm/s Supports needed on teacup handle

I have included a 3mf project file with the following settings: Print Plate #1 (Twisty Tea insert): 1 color, Outer wall & Inner wall Width 0.6mm, X-Y Hole Compensation 0.05mm, Elephant Foot Compensation 0.15mm, Arachne Wall Generator ‘on’, 0% Infill, Outer Wall speed 50mm/s & Inner Wall Speed 100mm/s (modifier added to screw section of coffee insert to increase the infill in that area)

Print Plate #2 (Teacup): 1 color, Outer wall & Inner wall Width 0.6mm, Arachne Wall Generator ‘on’, Order of Walls ‘outer/inner’, 15% infill, Outer Wall speed 50mm/s & Inner Wall Speed 100mm/s, supports added to handle

Print Plate #3 (Plate): 1 color, Outer wall & Inner wall Width 0.6mm, Wall loops 3, Infill 15%, Outer Wall speed 50mm/s & Inner Wall Speed 100mm/s

Assembly: Screw the twisty tea insert piece into the teacup making sure not to over tighten it (if you overtighten it, it may not “drop” as smooth or might end up pulled ‘tighter’ to one side of the mug).

Have fun printing! Erin

I don't know why prusaslicer can't open this 3mf. I managed to open it in freecad and save it back out as a stl. That opened in prusaslicer just fine. Note that if you do this, the center modifier cylinder mentioned in the description loads as an object. You'll have to select it in prusaslicer and change its type to modifier, then set that to have an infill. Printing now, we'll see how this comes out!

I ran the file through freecad and saved as stl. I was able to open it in prusaslicer but the middle part of the tea is missing - it's just solid on the top so it looks like it won't "spill".

FINALLY got the tea to print correctly work on the fourth attempt. Opened it in Fusion 360, deleted the cylinder surrounding the "screw" on the bottom of the tea, saved as stl. Opened in Prusaslicer and added a height modifier (that included the screw plus a few layers before the screw) set for 100% infill; rest of infill I set to 15%. The cup and plate didn't require any changes - just saved as part of the stl. Printed easily with organic supports on the teacup handle.

I have tried to contact 3DPMom -- still no response. :(

I can't get the file to open in PrusaSlicer.

Hi. This model will not load on my Prusa MK4. Has anyone else had issues with it? It is a really cool model so I would love for it to work.
