Compact Dual-Chamber Whistle V2.1

General Another whistle variation. Decided to go back to figuring out how to make the V2 faster and use less filament rather than alter the design significantly. This lead to a whistle that uses less filament than the V3, and is as fast (Bambu, Snapmaker) or faster (Voron, RatRig, etc) to print as the V3.

Big thanks to CadeRoux_3207747 for the feedback on all the whistles, and the suggestion to trim down the V2, which lead to this model. What Changed

  • Shortened the whistle
  • Relocated the keyring hole
  • Reduced the wall width everywhere and optimized the model to print as 2 walls consistently (0.4mm-0.5mm wall width)
  • Trimmed out any unnecessary sections that were either not part of the whistle chambers, or not structural

The original V2 may be more to your liking - it is a little larger and more ergonomic. Or maybe the V3. See what works best for you and your printer. Printing

How many can fit on a bed?

  • 300mm bed: 200
  • 256mm bed (Bambu X1): 150
  • 270mm bed (Snapmaker U1): 180

My observed printing times

  • Voron 2.4 1-count plate: 3:11 minutes Filament: 2.20g 100-count plate: 5h 9m
  • Snapmaker U1 1-count plate: 5:55 minutes Filament: 2.35g 100-count plate: 7h 3m
  • Bambu X1-C 1-count plate: 5:44 minutes Filament: 2.05g 100-count plate: 6h 11m

Other Tips You need to have pressure advance and flow tuned in.

If printing in a material that shrinks (ABS, ASA, etc) you need to make sure your “Shrinkage (XY)” setting under your filament is set correctly. This messed me up when trying out a new filament brand and not noticing it as set to 100%. I've found 99.6%-99.8% to be good for multiple different ASA/ABS brands.

Print Settings

  • Layer height: 0.24mm - 0.4mm
  • Wall Width: 0.4mm - 0.5mm
  • walls: 2 - If you set it to anything more, it should still just use 2 due to the 1mm wall thickness.
  • Inflll: 0% - 30%
  • Bridges: Make sure the bridge orientation looks correct, you may need to adjust “external bridge infill direction” in OrcaSlicer

Happy printing and stay safe!
