Garter Knit Round Bowl (Circumferential)

This bowl is part of a pair of knitted round bowls featuring a “garter knit” pattern. A garter knit is formed by alternating rows of regular and purl stitches.

In one bowl, the alternating rows are oriented vertically, in the other they are oriented circumferentially.

Use supports for the outside bottom of the bowl. The top inside of the bowl has bridges and overhangs that cannot be supported. The print fails will be small and mostly hidden, and you can clean up any visible flaws with a file.

120-Cell Polychora Planter

This Polychora Planter is derived from the four-dimensional 120-cell 4-polytope, or polychoron.

The 120-cell is one of six regular convex four-dimensional shapes. It is composed of 120 dodecahedral cells. 

4-polytopes cannot be seen in three-dimensional space due to their extra dimension, but there are several techniques that can be used to “project” 4-polytopes into three-dimensional space. This design uses the cell-centered stereographic projection method, chosen for the interesting aesthetic appearance.

While these three-dimensional shapes have curved faces and edges of various lengths, it is interesting to imagine that in four-dimensional space, the faces are flat, and the edges are straight and identical in length.

In this design, select cells have then been removed to allow better visualization of the inner cells, and the outer cells have been hollowed for uses as planters of containers of some kind.

Super Bowl

This is a Super Bowl, which is designed to be printed in vase mode. Thanks to its wavy-spiral structure, the bowl is very rigid and durable.

The diameter of the bowl is 150 mm and the height is 75 mm. 

**Recommended print instructions:**

- vase mode: on,
- layer width: 1 mm,
- layer height: 0.2 mm,
- solid bottom layers: 5.

Works very well with PETG and PLA.

This model prints nicely with **fuzzy skin** feature on it. It adds additional strength and hardiness to the walls of the bowl.

**Recommended fuzzy skin settings:**

- type: outer perimeters,
- thickness: 0.6 mm,
- point distance: 0.3 mm.

Captive Gemstone Container (Large)

The faceted “gemstones” in these containers are captive, meaning that once printed they rotate freely within the wall.

This design is particularly suited to printing with multicolour filament as rotating the gemstones allows for visualization of the different filament colours.

This model features the tricolour “Silk Red & Yellow & Blue” filament by Eryone.

Once printed, allow the print to cool. Wiggle each gem back and forth until it breaks from the small internal supports.  Twist it a few times until it turns smoothly.

Wicker Bowl (Circumferential Stakes)

This model is part of a set of two styles of round wicker bowls. In wicker weaving, the “stakes” are the rigid structures around which thinner “strands” are woven. The files are named for the orientation of the stakes in the model.

Wicker is a very challenging geometry for 3D printing because of the many bridges and overhangs. It is often difficult or impossible to set up supports for all overhangs. 
The models shown are printed without supports, and I invite you to try the same! You will get some areas of print fail that will add to the uniqueness of the print and can be cleanup up easily with a file if needed.
