The Nieuport 20 was a development of the Nieuport 12 with a larger engine and various other adjustments. Thirty were ordered by the Royal Flying Corps in 1916, though only twenty-one were delivered. They served with Squadron Nos. 1, 45, and 46, but they were disliked. By early 1917 they were pulled from the front lines and relegated to training and Home Defense
