Sticks: A Game of Frustration Rummy
This is a great game I have enjoyed with my family for a long time. Almost every time we get together, we play a few rounds of sticks. It’s great frustrating fun. When I got into 3D printing earlier this year I immediately thought of this project and looked online for a model to print. Sadly, the offerings were not great. So, with great excitement I launched myself into the world of Fusion 360, YouTube tutorials and many nights of “holy shit it’s already 3 AM!”. And here we are, sharing my creation with you. I hope you like it! I have included a PDF of the rules for the game which contains a list of the sticks included in the missions.3mf file. Having a different colour for the words on the sticks is optional, but easy to do even without a multi colour machine (see below). I printed everything on a stock Creality K1C.
Bill of materials:
- You’ll need 2 M3x30mm screws for the hinge
- Also 4 decks of standard playing cards with the jokers and advertisement cards
The lid: Print the lid on its top face, supports should not be necessary. Print with any infill you’d like, but I would suggest increasing the infill percentage around the hinges. The box base: Print on its bottom face, supports should not be necessary. Print with any infill you’d like, but I would suggest increasing the infill percentage around the hinges. The card caddy: Designed to hold the cards elevated in the box above the missions, and to hold the cards on the table. Print on bottom face, settings not critical. The Missions: If you are going for the dual colour sticks missions the layer height is critical. First layer 0.2 mm, rest of the layers 0.16 mm. Put in a filament change at layer 10. I used 2 wall loops, 2 top and bottom layers with 10% adaptive cubic infill.
