- 4x2 tray stores 37 FCS chips
FCS Features
- Easily determine material and brand of past prints. Each chip has the brand and material debossed onto the top face.
- Each chip is 48.2mm x 48.2mm x 2mm. This should be large enough to measure using a spectrophotometer.
- Each chip is 4g of material. Minimal material used and takes ~30min to print.
- Two thicknesses allow you to get a sense of opacity of each color.
- 4mm hole allows chips to be attached to a keychain or piece of string forming a color pallete.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why not use one of the dozens of material chips already on printables/thang/thingiverse?
I wanted each chip to have sufficient information to determine the specific material and reorder it. This is possible by having both the debossed brand and material on each chip. I wasnt able to find a collection of chips elsewhere that had this.
- You are missing Brand/Material X!
Leave me a comment and I'll add it! There are ALOT of materials and brands out there. I have added the ones I am aware off but always happy to add more.
- Why dont the chips have the color debossed into them?
Primarily because that would result in a magnitude more files to manage and require scrapping alot more data.
Secondly, most people can see the color of each chip. So outside of a few rare cases where a single brand has 2 similair colors of the same material, it shouldnt be an issue.
Print instructions All models printed in PLA, 10% infill, with supports if you want to be able to install magnets in the base, otherwise no support should be fine.
