I’ve always been fascinated by the quiet genius of nature, especially bees and their perfectly efficient hexagons. That little spark of inspiration led me to create this: the Hexlight Table Lamp. It’s a compact, stylish piece meant for your nightstand or desk—simple to print, and even more fun to admire once it’s lit up.
The lampshade rocks a bold hex pattern that diffuses light beautifully, while the base uses a tripod geometry that’s both sleek and sturdy. The best part? The whole design prints without any supports. It took a few tries to get the angles just right, but now it’s good to go straight off the bed.
There’s a hidden channel running through one leg of the tripod to cleanly route your power cable—no messy wires here. Plus, the socket holder is designed with a bit of play, so it can grip different bulb socket sizes securely. It’s a nice little bit of flexibility if you’ve got various sockets lying around.
What You’ll Need
- An A19 bulb works, but I recommend using a smaller one for the best look and fit.
Filament Used
- Feel free to experiment, but something with good light diffusion works great for the shade. Matte or textured for the base adds a nice contrast.
Printing Tips
- No supports needed!
- If your slicer gets cranky about the geometry, try using the Arachne engine—it handles the curves like a champ.
