OKAY, *NOT* QUITE TUNED, ONLY *SORTA* PLAYABLE.  

Inspired by the linked ocarina, which is delightfully printable but not tuned to any particular scale. These two ocarinas were designed to (hopefully) play in tune. Each covers an octave and a half, including sharps and flats, per the same fingering chart which you can download.  

The "alto" ocarina should run from A4 = 440Hz through F6. The "soprano" should run an octave higher, from A5 = 880Hz through F7.  

I designed this using a genetic algorithm and the equation for a Helmholtz resonator, and posted the STL so people could test it out while I was on the road. I've since gotten home and printed one, and it's not bad considering: the first few notes are in tune, but only if you blow fairly hard. The higher notes are progressively flat. I'll have to do some experiments to see what went wrong.

Ocarina - Not Quite Tuned or Playable

This is a holder for the [Olight S2R Baton II](https://olightworld.com/olight-s2r-baton-ii) flashlight, designed to fit the [Modular Leatherman Wave Holster](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2478506). It fits the S2 Baton and the S2R Baton II about equally well. The slot is wide enough to accommodate the pocket clip.

The images show my prototype, as you can tell from the boring slot running top-to-bottom. This version is slightly fancier and uses slightly less plastic.

I designed it in OpenSCAD, including the wedge that fits the Wave holster, so please let me know in the comments if you have any issues. The original version of this required a hammer to get it all the way in, and this version has a redesigned wedge that AFAICT is an exact match for the one by the holster's original designer.

This is a basic shelf -- currently it's not very modular or flexible, although future updates should improve this. I needed something for my bedside table so I could keep more than one thing on the near corner where I could reach it; in this case a lamp and a sleep machine.

I designed this for reasonably efficient printing: the legs are octagonal so they can be printed flat on the bed without supports, and the pegs are offset rather than centered so that they too will lay flat on the bed.

The legs DO need at least a brim when printing: otherwise you're liable to have one end spring up and you'll end up with a deformed chopstick instead of a nice neat pencil shape. The shelves shouldn't need any adhesion.

To build this, you want to print 4 legs and 2 shelves. I used the "mesh3.5" shelf for the bottom and the "mesh10" shelf for the top of mine.

The shelves are all 5"x7", and there are several options. The solid shelf will print in about 7 1/2 hours and use about 60gm of filament. The other 7x5 shelves have various fineness of mesh in the center to reduce plastic usage -- but, ironically, they don't help that much with print time. The coarsest mesh has 3 1/2 diamond shapes cut out along the long edge, and still takes over 6 hours to print. The "mesh" number gives the number of diamond shapes, so you can also pick 5, 10, or 15. The "mesh10" shape takes about the same length of time to print as the solid shelf, but uses just over 2/3 as much plastic.

This is a remix of the ocarina by boeingdude1. They added supports, so you don't need to print with support, but the supports wouldn't stick to my printer bed, so I added a minimal "raft." Now it prints great.

This is a remix of Harlique's build plate clip: this version has a channel so it fits over the nut on the build plate without removing it first, and it sticks up an extra milimeter or so.  

To install it, simply slip it over the existing bolt on two opposite corners of the build plate, without removing the nut, then secure with a washer, lock washer, and M3 wing nut.  

Install the first one tightly, then put the glass plate in place, and then install the second so it holds the plate securely in position.

My dryer vent is angled down (for easy cleaning), which causes it to flap in every breeze. This flange closes the gap, keeping out insects and stopping that flap-flap-flap noise.

This fipple is inspired by mikaelfernstrom's fipple. I decided to make this customizable, in hopes that people would experiment and, e.g., come up with the best combination for making a loud, clear whistle. You can also download the OpenSCAD file and use it as the mouthpiece of an ocarina or tin whistle.  

I printed this one, covered the end, and blew it next to a guitar tuner; it claimed the whistle was a (pretty shrill) B. I compared that with the rough estimate for a Helmholtz oscillator, and that seems about right. Our older Lifetime basketball hoop has a plastic piece holding the height-adjustment lever in place. The kids quickly broke it. This is a serviceable replacement for that piece.
