Here is my 4th axis dual drive 3D printed CNC build. This is a durable build and can fit up to a 80mm diameter spindle (such as the 2.2kw spindle). Ensure that you use a spindle that can maintain cool conditions such a water cooled spindle.
I have also include a few extra components such as a belt drive adaption parts, however no end brackets included for a belt drive CNC machine.
These parts are available for tinkerers who are up for the challenge, however unfortunately I cant supply build instructions at this stage. The build is reasonably straight forward and requires the following components to build.
Addition components:
- 8mm Lead screw (choose your length. This will be just short of the steel bar required).
- Anti backlash nut block (check how many starts your leadscrew is before purchasing) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000002276012.html?_randl_currency=AUD&_randl_shipto=AU&src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=708-803-3821&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&albagn=888888&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&albcp=11482541945&albag=112620152352&trgt=294682000766&crea=en4000002276012&netw=u&device=c&albpg=294682000766&albpd=en4000002276012&gclid=CjwKCAiAsYyRBhACEiwAkJFKokyXsWPDdhFfT1NixSjC8urw_np04loB2x_jC-AspmKXkirVv4Qq6xoCMk4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&aff_fcid=5ce9fee3e19f4e79880e90b4fa099d89-1646548138951-06399-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=5ce9fee3e19f4e79880e90b4fa099d89-1646548138951-06399-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=b6410ac067e24c2c95a4100fe352cacc&afSmartRedirect=y
- 25mm solid bright bar or no flex 25mm tubing.
- 608-2rs bearings
- 8mm lead screw ring collar
- M8 bolts with M8 lock nuts
- M3 10-12mm hex screws for stepper motors
- hose clamps with a max thickness of 6mm for securing the spindle
- Aluminum L angle for cable chain
- Cable chain
- Many sip ties of all sizes.
Electronics: Unfortunately this will be up to your experience and ability. Any grbl or mach3 electronics will be sufficient for the build.
This can be turned into a traditional 3axis CNC if you wish.... Just need some imagination and poking around online to find required parts.
I will not be able to offer build advice, however if there are any major issues with files, feel free to contact me to amend.
I suggest printing with a 70% infill all parts to ensure rigidity and strength.
CNC cut files: Please be aware that this was initially made with 12mm MDF for the end structure and electronic box. You will need to update tab and slots if you want to use another thickness material.
Good luck and have fun :)
