This is a new version where the shaker is designed to hold an off-the-shelf salt or pepper shaker refilled with MSG. A $1 salt shaker is used to actually hold the food, so the outer shell can be made out of many kinds of plastic and doesn't need special treatment for food safety. There are now 2 parts: the outer shell and a plastic plug for the bottom. I would recommend putting a piece of foam or something in the bottom: the cavity for the shaker is intentionally a loose fit.
Blog post about the new version here.
Every time my wife or I made egg fried rice we had to get a sketchy plastic bag out of the cabinet, portion MSG out by hand, and sprinkle over rice. Haiyaa! It was so messy.
We like Nigel Ng's comedy and his Uncle Roger YouTube series, so my brother Morgan Jones and I worked together to make my wife this MSG shaker shaped like Uncle Roger's stylish polo shirt. Fuiyoh! Now it's always easy to measure out the right amount of white powder to make everything better.
