MK02 horizontal 3D-printable mini-ITX computer case
A compact horizontal format, designed like a media center and a game console. A design case meant to be displayed, not hidden away. A case inspired by the design language of both vintage and modern hi-fi audio equipment.
The MK02 is a mini-ITX case with the graphics card mounted horizontally using a riser cable. Unlike the MK01, whose goal is to be a standard and flexible mid-tower case, the MK02 requires specific component choices.
The power supply used is the HDPLEX 500W from HDPLEX. The fans are Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM, and the CPU cooler is a Noctua NH-L9a (or NH-L9i for Intel). At the moment, the case is designed only for this specific power supply. The fans and CPU cooler may possibly be sourced from other manufacturers, but they must have the same characteristics as the Noctua models.
I know this may seem restrictive, but it is a deliberate choice to guarantee the style and compact size of the case. It’s therefore important to keep this in mind before starting this project.
The case uses threaded inserts and screws as much as possible. A soldering iron is required to install the inserts.
For the graphics card, the maximum dimensions are: 115 mm width, 65 mm height, and 240 mm length.
The exterior shells are made of several parts, offering a lot of freedom for customization and color matching. This allows the case to be approached more like a piece of furniture and encourages originality.
I have several ideas for future improvements to this case, so this is a V1 — just the beginning!
