Tablet Turret - Adjustable Tablet Stand
The Tablet Turret is a fully 3D printed, snap-together tablet stand with indexed rotation, robust articulation, and no need for screws, supports, or hardware. It’s designed to showcase functional engineering, while giving your tablet a stable, adjustable home.
This build features:
- Print-in-place hinges & press-fit joints
- Conical thrust bearing with orbital gear system
- Click joints and offset detents
- Double helical gears with gear-to-gear transmission
- Twist-and-lock + threaded assemblies
- Snap fit, rotational fit, and press fit examples
The Tablet Turret demonstrates over a dozen mechanical principles—great for showcasing what’s possible with desktop 3D printing.
Shown with an 11” tablet, should accommodate most standard tablets Works great on desks, kitchen counters, or nightstands
No hardware. No glue. No tools. Just snap-fit, twist-lock, and thread-together parts. Everything prints without supports.
Whether you're looking for a sturdy daily-use tablet stand or a hands-on project that demonstrates the power of 3d printable mechanisms, the Tablet Turret delivers.

You are a wizard...
Thanks, I hope you enjoy it!
Completed my print today. Superb stand looks really cool, works very well, and prints beautifully. Looking forward to printing some of your other designs.
Thank you. Love the feedback. Much appreciated.
hey, would you be willing to share the cad file ? I'd love to play around with the design.
I generally do not share my source files for commercial designs like this one but I do occasionally make some exceptions. Please email me at logicalplanet3d gmail.com and we can discuss it further.
Would it be possible to send me the cad file for the tablet pad? My current iPad case is too thick to fit in it properly.
Can you email me at logicalplanet3d Gmail.com
Wow!! What an excellent write up on this project. You did a great job on this. I have yet to make it but it is on my list to make. I could use something like this.
Can you make phone turret next?
I don't know if it is practical to make it much smaller (the base that is). But I could make the top part smaller for a phone. Is that what you are thinking?
Wow your files are amazing, the guides/print settings are appreciated!
Thank you. Let me know if you have any issues with it.
