Centrifugally Unlocked Lock Box (BXC1)

This model is restricted by licensing terms.

This lock box is a fun variant of my previously released “Spin Release Gift Box” (https://than.gs/m/1185717) but this one is less obviously a gift box and more of a blind puzzle.

I have created this one specifically to be used inside my Sequential Discovery Puzzle Gift Box (GBS1) (https://than.gs/m/1227965) but it can also be used as a stand alone box.

The lid features a mechanism with four floating latches that slide into place. These latches lock the box shut and will only release when centrifugal force pushes them outward simultaneously. Each latch independently prevents the box from being opened, so only by spinning the box can all the latches move into their outward positions, allowing the lid to lift off.

This puzzle box is perfect for hiding small gifts or creating a fun challenge for the recipient. It’s an engaging blend of physics and ingenuity that’s sure to impress!

100% printed - no hardware, fasteners, or adhesives required. No additional support is required.

Print Settings

For the best results, I suggest the following: Material = PLA Nozzle = 0.4mm Layer Height = 0.2mm Line Width = 0.4mm Wall Count = 4 (1.6mm) Top and Bottom Layer Count = 5 Detect Thin Walls = ON Wall Generator = Arachne Infill = 40% (Cubic) Ironing = Not required Brim = Should not be needed Support = None required Print orientation = As per the STL/3MF files.

Bambu says the file doesn’t contain any geometry data and the load fails.

Can you send me a screenshot or two of what you are seeing? Please send to logicalplanet3d gmail.com

The grid plate is giving me errors when I try to load it.

Again, if you can send me some screen shots we can probably work it out or I can send you a new file to fix it. Thank you. I am using BambuStudio as well and have not had any trouble.

Hi, I'm new to 3d printing, and I was wondering what software you use to make your CAD's? I am looking into designing my own parts, and I'm having trouble finding a middle ground between efficiency, and precision.

Yes, I know that feeling. I used AutoCAD for many years, and when converting to 3D modeling, I tried Fusion, FreeCad, and a few others. Then, I found Shapr3d. It is perfect (for me). It is evolving a bit now, but it still is very, very good for direct modeling, which is how I design. Learning was easy for me (watching a few videos on their site). So you can guess... I am a huge fan of it and recommend it. I have also heard good things about Plasticity.

Thomas S

Thank you so much for the recommendation, I haven't tried shapr3d yet, and I look forward to trying it out.
