The vueltiao hat is a typical garment from the savannahs of the Colombian Caribbean, specifically from the departments of Córdoba, Sucre and Bolívar, and one of the main pieces of crafts in Colombia. It is a garment that has its origin in the Zenú indigenous culture, settled in the Sinú river region. It is made from the leaves of the cane arrow, grass native to the region. The Colombian Congress elevated it to the category of Cultural Symbol of the Nation.
El sombrero vueltiao es una prenda típica de las sabanas del caribe colombiano, específicamente de los departamentos de Córdoba, Sucre y Bolívar, y una de las principales piezas artesanales de Colombia. Es una prenda que tiene su origen en la cultura indígena Zenú, asentada en la región del río Sinú. Se elabora con las hojas de la caña de flecha, hierba autóctona de la región. El Congreso de Colombia lo elevó a la categoría de Símbolo Cultural de la Nación.
