After the First World War the family of every serviceman killed received a bronze plaque of condolence, also known as the 'Dead Man's Penny' or 'Death Penny' because of its resemblance to a coin. 1,355,000 were issued, made from 450 tons of bronze. No rank was stated, because there was no distinction made between the sacrifice of individuals. I was lucky enough to inherit this one from a family relation many years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memorial_Plaque_(medallion)
