Scalable shock absorbers
This is a simple, fully 3D-printable shock absorber designed specifically for flexible filaments. By using the natural elasticity of TPU, this design compresses to absorb impacts and vibrations without the need for metal springs or extra hardware.
Perfect for RC cars, custom drone landing gear, mounting sensitive electronics, or general mechanical projects!
How to adjust the stiffness: The best part about printing this in TPU is that you can completely customize how "bouncy" or stiff the shock absorber is just by changing your slicer settings:
For a softer shock: Use a lower infill (10-15%) and fewer walls (2 perimeters).
For a stiffer shock: Use a higher infill (30%+) and more walls (3-4 perimeters).
Recommended Print Settings:
Material: TPU (95A works great, but softer TPUs will yield more flex)
Layer Height: 0.2mm
Infill Pattern: Gyroid (highly recommended for flexible parts as it compresses evenly in all directions)
Supports: None required but Organic tree supports wouldnt be any harm
Print Speed: Slow and steady (follow your specific TPU manufacturer's guidelines, usually 20-40mm/s)
Happy printing! Let me know in the comments what you end up using these for, and please share your makes!
