Lost the smart phone tripod adapter I bought from amazon somewhere. So when i needed one i had to make my own. did a little reading lately about compliant mechanisms. They allow you to use fewer parts by using the properties of the materials you are using to allow things to work.

So the material I would suggest for the clamp has to be a flexible material, I chose Pet-G, Abs might would but is going to require some testing to handle shrinkage.

Pla Would work intially, but when it is deformed over longer times it will not bounce back as pet-g or abs would and you don't want it stretching to the point it will drop your phone.

I used 2 perimeters and 20% infill, I also printed the clamp flat with support everywhere. To support the back and to support the clamps.

I also used support on the plate for the socket and also you will need a drop in 1/4" I think course thread nut. I had some with a washer head and that is what the model is build for.

for mine I just set a filament change at 6mm and when the head moved out of the way I dropped the nut in and started it going again and it filled in right over it sealing it in and the washer portion retains the nut.

if you want to mod this design for your phone I would suggest making the outside dimension of the clamp equal to the width of your smart phone. and make sure to maintain the thickness of the clamps you want enough material to make sure they do not snap with your phone in them.
