This is a basic model of a bottom plate for a Ghostbusters proton pack. The plate follows dimensions from Stefan Otto's published blueprints–i.e., 39.3mm x 69.8mm x 12.7mm.

This plate is special because it includes a slot for a USB extension. The slot is sized for this particular extension with ABS shrinkage in mind:

The extension can be used for charging or programming internal electronics. The extension fits snugly into the slot but can be secured with screws.

The screw holes are sized to fit M3 press-fit threaded inserts from McMaster Carr:

I have included the Fusion 360 archive file and a .step file if you want to resize the slot for PLA or change the slot or screw holes.

Print the plate however you see fit. You can print it with 2-3 perimeters and 5-10% gyroid infill. Those settings will create a strong plate you can sand and finish.

If you intend to use heat inserts for the screws, print the plate 1-2 additional perimeters.

This is a very large (552.83 x 417.99 x 25.4mm) sculpture of the BloodHoundAD logo. It was originally made as wall decor for the SpecterOps offices. Now you can make your own!

The BloodHound.stl file is the complete model. You scale it down to fit your print bed or whatever size you like. I recommend scaling it and then unlocking the scale to adjust the Z-axis on its own. Keep the model 12.7mm (0.5") or taller if you want it to stand easily on its own.

If you want to go BIG, there are individual pieces. I have cut the model to create individual chunks that are roughly the same size and fit back together easily. There are enough connection points that gluing should be a cinch (everything is basically self-aligning).

BloodHound (SpecterOps)

This is my take on a Nuka Cola bottle cap. There is a version with a Nuka Cola logo on top (great for multi-color prints) and a version without text for painting.

Models like this exist, but many of them are thick or completely solid because real bottle caps are very thin and difficult to print. A real bottle cap is ~.22mm thick. To create the most accurate model possible, I researched bottle cap manufacturing and changes between the 40's and today. The Fallout universe is steeped in 1950’s science fiction and aesthetic. Prior to the mid-1960’s, caps had 24 aliases or ridges along the edge and were 6.75mm tall. I used those measurements instead of the modern 5.97mm bottle cap with its 21 ridges.

In-game models and official merchandise use 21 and 24 ridges interchangeably.

The resulting 3D model is delicate. They print best with a 0.25mm nozzle and 0.1mm layer height. The printed model is only a few layers thick. The caps are so light it takes little effort to heat and deform them. I used a heat gun to bend, crush, twist, dent, and smash the caps to create much more convincing post-apocalyptic currency.

It is best to print these with a 0.25mm nozzle and 0.1mm layer height. You can print the no-text version with a 0.4mm nozzle, but they will be extra delicate (if they complete).

Nuka Cola Bottle Cap (#Thangs100k)

A multi-color (optional) version of the cap. The Nuka Cola branding is on top. Print it in red and do a layer color change for the last few layers.

This is a gift and display box for 51mm challenge coins (or maker coins) with a parametric hinge. The lid is split by a smaller parametric hinge so it folds back into a display stand that displays the coin at a 45° angle.

Nozzle diameter and layer height impacts how tightly the lid fits into the box. Printing these quickly with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height works but the lid fit is extra tight and requires some prying to open. If you want to print it with larger layers or nozzles, you may need to adjust the lid or add a deeper fillet or chamfer.

Print at 0.1mm or 0.15mm layer height if you find the hinges are weak or loose–especially if you modify the model to increase tolerances.

Text looks great on the lid, but requires perfect first layers. If you add text with a lot of smaller pips inside letters (e.g., A, P, O, R) you may need make adjustments. Use slower print speeds for the first few layers–or something like Magigoo adhesive–to prevent those pieces from coming loose and causing problems.

The hinges have a tolerance of 0.15mm, so it's tight. Test your printer with a tolerance test gauge like this one:

This version is meant to look like a claw machined from a solid piece of aluminum. There is a smooth fillet between the claw and ring. This feature is easily modified to create a version with a weld line.

I designed this with ABS shrinkage in mind, so the ring is 25.5mm ID for a snug fit over a standard 1in OD tube.
