This is a bracket I designed that will slide onto the top rail of my Ender 3 Pro. Earlier I had printed a spool holder that uses 608zz ball bearings because I wanted smooth spool rolling. However, I also wanted keep the spool on top of the machine since I have little bench space.
The spool holder I used can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2384414
You will also need 4 608zz ball bearings.
-
Print 4 pieces of the spool holder (thingiverse link above) and assemble.
-
Print 2 Top Rail Spool Brackets. Mostly standard Cura settings, but I did change wall thickness to 1.2mm for added strength.
-
Remove plastic end cap and 2 screws from the top gantry rail that is opposite the z-axis screw.
-
Slide the brackets onto the top rail. They should go on easily with a little effort.
-
Reinstall the top rail screws.
-
To keep the spool holder from sliding I used double-sided tape.
Note: This bracket is made for spools that are approximately 60mm wide.
