An activated carbon canister for the eSUN Air Purifier that is dimensionally compatible with the original filter.

Included is the canister, the lid, and two bonus models!

  • base.stl: A replacement base if your original happened to have an unfortunate exposure to acetone. Long story.
  • tray.stl: A tray that you can adhere in exactly the right spot on the floor of a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon to consistently position the filter between the bed and right side wall. The filter is an incredibly tight fit even without this tray and depending on the tolerances of your printer, this may cause the bed to hit the filter. Don't risk it. Don't use the tray.

You'll need to print two copies of the lid (for the top and bottom). This is the only piece that needs supports. Printing these upside down will use less support material, but leave the scared surface exposed on the outside of the canister. Do whatever makes you happiest here.

I printed everything in eSUN eASA in order to withstand higher chamber temperatures.

FAQ: "But, why did you add that to your X1C? Don't you know it already has a carbon exhaust filter?" --Everybody

Well, here's my working theory. (I don't know if any of what I'm about to say is correct.) 1. Running the exhaust fan during printing will cause cool air to enter the heated chamber and will cause ABS/ASA/PA-CF to warp. 2. Venting the air through the carbon filter will only give a single pass over the carbon, thus not giving it as much opportunity to filter VOCs. By recirculating the warm air continuously over the activated carbon using this eSUN air purifier, there is more opportunity for VOCs to be removed without causing a draft. However, I have modified the Machine end G-code to turn on the exhaust vent when the print is finished. By using both of these techniques, my air quality monitor does not complain nearly as much as it did before. And, at the very least, my eyes are considerably less irritated. YMMV.
