Compact Dual-Chamber Whistle V3 - Smokestack

This is the 3rd iteration of my compact whistle, this time even more compact and now shaped a bit like a smokestack. Includes a 4mm keyring mount. Still around 100db-102db and shrill.

V2 may be more to your liking - it is a little larger, more ergonomic, and prints on its side for more on 1 plate. This design is specifically for printing as many whistles as quickly as possible while not losing the same sound quality.

I was inspired by some of the bitonal whistles out there that used less filament and took less time than my V2 model due to the way they were laid out - more flat than tall. So I sliced up the V2 model, keeping the chambers and airways the same, while flattening it, compacting it, and hollowing out sections that did not need to be printed.

This change cut down printing time by ~40% (on most printers), and filament usage by ~40%-50% while maintaining the same chamber frequencies. My observed printing times

Annex K3: 2:40 minutes - 1.9g Voron 2.4: 3:40 minutes - 2.4g Snapmaker U1: 5:40 minutes - 2.58g Bambu X1-C: 5:43 minutes - 2.2g

Other Tips

You need to have pressure advance and flow tuned in. If printing in a material that shrinks (ABS, ASA, etc) you need to make sure your “Shrinkage (XY)” setting under your filament is set correctly. This messed me up when trying out a new filament brand and not noticing it as set to 100%. I've found 99.6%-99.8% to be good for multiple different ASA/ABS brands.

Print Settings

layer height: 0.24mm walls: 3 Infll: 30% Bridges Make sure the bridge orientation looks correct, you may need to adjust “external bridge infill direction” in OrcaSlicer

Happy printing and stay safe!
