I decided to do a remix instead of updating the earlier design because there are many new parts.
Main focus is changing the mounting holes on the base part and the cable chain bracket on the other end to hold a 10x15mm cable chain instead of the stock 10x10? cable chain. After changing to a direct drive system, I don't think the original cable chain can hold the additional motor cable, and filament sensor without potentially overpacking. And the original cable chain is closed which makes it extremely time-consuming to add/remove cables in the future.
Some other minor changes
-
Filament sensor bracket mounting hole changed from M4 to M3, since the new cable chain uses M3 holes, it is more to streamline the required threaded inserts.
-
Narrowed the guide channel on the base to slot into the roller bracket, for tighter fit.
Please refer to https://than.gs/m/878970 for a list of the parts required.
Parts required for cable chain upgrade:
-
1pc BMG direct drive 10x15 cable chain and X5SA bracket cable chain 10x15 (both 3D printed)
-
1pc 10x15 cable chain
-
6pcs Brass threaded insert M3(OD4.5) (length up to 6mm)
-
6pcs M3x10 (or longer) countersunk screws
For the revised reverse bowden solution, replace all the M4 screws and threaded inserts with M3 versions.
