Team Coins
I have only printed these in resin, although they would probably print in FDM just fine with either a small enough nozzle or if scaled up a little bit.
For resin printing, I just print them standing straight up with some supports going about halfway up the outer rim of the coin. If you’re printing all 6 at once, it may be a good idea to space them out a little bit so you get good weight distribution.
If you want to print them with FDM, a good option might be to split the coin in half and print both halves with the flat side down. If you are interested in variations of these coins please just let me know and I’ll make it happen!
Post Processing:
For these coins, I basically follow a 4 step process:
- Clean Up - Light sanding over the support scars with 220 grit sandpaper then clean off well.
- Paint - I use Rustoleum Bright Coat Metallic Gold Spray paint, 2-3 coats is more than enough for these.
- Weather - Some watered down acrylic black paint directly into the cracks and crevices, then wiped off with a paper towel until I like the level of weathering.
- Clearcoat- I use Rustoleum 2X Matte Clear Coat to finish, although I’m currently looking for something that dries a little “harder.”
