Ratchet wheel fidget tool
its a little fidget toy that clicks when you spin the wheel. easy assembly, no extra parts needed. doubles as a light-duty screw driver.
notes:
-
The little screw is reverse threaded, so when you assemble turn the screw counter-clockwise to thread.
-
You will generally want to pick the lightest spring that still reliably engages the ratchet.
-
The little springs are included in several thicknesses, so one should be compliant enough for your filament.
-
The little dog bone "springs" are if you want to print your springs out of tpu or some other soft material. (this is my preferred method)
-
You can fit a standard 1/4 inch driver bit in the hub of the wheel.
-
It only ratchets in one direction, so just switch the bit to the other side to ratchet in the opposite direction.
-
The weak point of using it as a screwdriver is the bit will round out the hub without a ton of force. You could probably print the hub out of extremely strong and rigid material if you wanted a medium-duty fidget tool.
