1:144 Sopwith 1A2 (1½ Strutter)
This is a paintable 1:144 scale model of a French two-seat Sopwith Sop.1.A 2, also known as the Sopwith 1½ Strutter. Since many painters choose their own mounting system, no peg is included on the plane. Pegs can be purchased separately in the Accessories section of this catalog.
The Sopwith 1½ Strutter was flown in both two-seat fighter (9400 Type) configuration and as a single-seat bomber (9700 Type), later supplemented by a nightfighter for home defense. The French made even wider use of the Strutter, in both the two-seat (Sop.1.A 2) and single-seat versions (Sop.1.B 1), equipping 74 escadrilles. Alas by the time it came into French service, the Strutter was fairly obsolete, and it was replaced with the more capable Salmson 2 and Breguet 14 as quickly as possible.
