1:144 Ansaldo S.V.A. 9
This is a paintable 1:144 scale model of an Ansaldo S.V.A. 9. An S.V.A. 5 and S.V.A. 10 is also available. Since many painters choose their own mounting system, no peg is included on the plane. Pegs can be purchased separately in the Accessories section of this catalog.
The Ansaldo S.V.A. 9 was an unarmed two-seat version of the basic S.V.A. plan. Most were used as dual-control trainers, but some may have seen action as lead planes for formations of other types. The first two were sent to flight schools in May 1918. After the war, some SVA 9s were constructed as trainers for the same purchasers as the SVA 10.
Unfortunately, the SPA-6A engine was difficult to produce, resulting in only small numbers of SVA9s and 10s being completed before the Armistice. More of them were produced post-war, serving with at least eighteen different countries.
