Why Choose This Design? As a Product Designer with over 20 years of experience in high-end manufacturing engineering, I ensure quality and reliability. I've designed, printed, and tested multiple iterations of this 3D model to meet high standards. Though my durability tests were empirical, they confirmed the product's quality within the limits of 3D printing.

Caution/Disclaimer: Please be careful with your laptop's air vents when using this stand. If the laptop's air vents get blocked by the position in the slot of the brick, it can prevent the correct air circulation necessary to keep your laptop cool. Some laptop models have side air vents and will not have any trouble, but for example, MacBooks usually have vents in positions that may reduce airflow when placed in the stand. A solution for MacBooks is to place the laptop upside down when in use and the correct way when not in use. Please keep an eye on this to ensure proper ventilation.

Future Design Update: I am working on a brick design with vents, but I want to design it in a visually appealing way and not just place random holes, which is why it is taking me more time to do it right.

STL Files: The STL files consist of one STL for the studs and a single file for each slot dimension. The studs file is universal. Here are the available sizes:

  • Micro (11.7 mm)
  • Compact (15.8 mm)
  • Slim (15.1 mm)
  • Regular (16.6 mm)
  • Standard (17.3 mm)
  • Large (19.9 mm)
  • X-Large (21.1 mm)
  • Mega (26.1 mm)

Instructions for Printing and Tips:

  • The walls of the brick are 3 mm thick. I printed this model using a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon with only 1 "wall loop," and it holds really strong.
  • I used a 10% sparse infill density with a Grid pattern. It holds really strong, though some lines may appear on the walls as seen in the images. Using 2 wall loops may reduce this visibility, but it still looks very good.
  • I used PLA Elegoo filament.
  • You will need to know the Width of your laptop and choose the STL file that best fits your laptop Width, then print it.
  • The brick body is designed to not require supports. Print the brick body with the top face facing the printer plate.
  • You can print the studs alongside the body if the space on your printer allows it.
  • Once the body and the studs are printed, insert the studs into the body's holes and secure them with glue. I used Krazy glue, but be aware that adding too much glue can produce fumes and stains on the printed parts. Apply the glue to the base of the studs.
