Timeline Clock Holidays Edition

Simple, elegant, and playful, the Timeline clock is wrapped with a string (preferably wool) which can be used to mark the time, or as a playful decoration to be changed from time to time. The Timeline clock can either hang on a wall, or stand on a shelf, desk, or mantel.

In addition to the 3D printed components, to assemble the Timeline Clock you will also need a string or wool strand and a standard clock movement with a 10mm (0.375 inches) threaded shaft.

The dial is designed to snap-fit and lock into the frame, just push it gently from the back until the snaps lock properly. The string does not keep the frame and dial together; they are merely decorative. Knotches are provided in the front and back to hold the sting and align it with the hour marks. Use them to prevent the string from slipping, but don’t feel restricted by them. Just use your creativity, the possibilities are endless.

The clocks in the photographs were printed on a standard desktop 3D printer, without supports or secondary operations.

Specifications and Recommended 3D Printing Settings

Assembled dimensions (largest build volume): 200 x 200 x 45 mm

Nozzle: 0.4 Layer: 0.2 Supports: NO Infill: 15% Gyroid Scalable: Yes (use dial without hole) Tested with: PLA

Since some printers create aberrations around holes (especially noticeable with transparent/translucent materials), two files are included, one with a hole and one without. Choose the one that best suits your printer.

For the clock hands: The easiest solution is to purchase hands for your specific movements, often clock movements sold online or in hobby stores come with a set of hands of your choice. In this case, the length of the minute hand should be approximately 70mm (2.75 inches) from the center of the hole fitting the shaft. If you want to print your own hands to match the ones in the pics, the included files are for a press-on clock movement. Three different-sized holes are provided, but given the different movements on the market and the tight tolerances required, it is virtually impossible to expect they will fit properly. Just print the closest (smaller) size and gently rim the hole with the proper drill bit. Please refer to the guide in the pictures to select the best starting option, one of the provided files simply has a 2mm pilot hole.
