On those electric fly or bug swatters, it's sometimes hard to get at smaller insects (whether flying or not) if they're in a corner, furrowed groove or indentation, or under an overhanging structure (like windowsills). This clip on goes on the outer edge lip of the swatter and is angled to have the points either scrape or flush the critter out of its location and be forced to move (hopefully into the swatter) or be squished. So this was designed especially for smaller flying insects, like the small moths we had in out ceilings.
