Simple Cute Boxes 🧰 I know there are a lot of box designs, but when i needed simple, well-designed boxes that would print quickly I couldn't find any. So I made this and now sharing with you. Enjoy.

🛠 How to customize

  1. Create Onshape account. (Free for personal use)
  2. Copy this document.
  3. Navigate to Variables as shown here.
  4. 🔧 Edit values. You can change width, length and height of the box, as well as wall thickness of corner radius in floor projection or chamfer size in side projection. You can also adjust lip offset of the lid, but only change this if the lid doesn't fit or moves a lot.
  • 📌 1 mm wall thickness is pretty strong for sorting trays or desk boxes while maintaining great print times.

🐚 How to keep the golden ratio

  1. Start with a dimension you want to divide.
  • It can be a square, but you'll end up with extra space for which you'll need to print an extra rectangular box. This is why it's best to start with a rectangle (its wider side).
  1. Go to an online golden ratio calculator.
  • Type the wider dimension e.g. 210 as in my case to the “Whole (a+b)” field.
  • Round the “a” and "b" to whole millimeters so that they add up to your original size.
  • Set the “a” and ‘’b” to the “width” and “length” in the variables of your Onshape copy.
  1. 👩🍳 Pro tip: If you want keep the boxes stacked together, print one more bigger box as a sleeve for the smaller boxes or make a wooden tray.
  • If you want to print the bigger box, just print one with the dimensions of:
  • "length" = your starting wider dimension + (number of walls of boxes in the length direction)*(wall thickness)
  • "widht" = your “b” dimension from the calculator + (number of walls of boxes in the width direction)*(wall thickness)
  • “height” = "your original height" and either add "wall thickness" for flush tops or substract it or more for portruding insides, both looks great
  • “chamfer size” = slightly decrease it so that there are no conflicts with the inside boxes
