Modern Low-Poly Chicken
Background
This design started as a quest to help my wife find more chicken decorations. After printing a mini chicken zen garden, she wanted a low-poly chicken for her office. An online search of low-poly chickens proved fruitless for easy printing as many needed supports or were awkward. Thus, I decided to make my own solution.
After finding NagyBig's beautiful model of a nesting chicken on Printables (https://www.printables.com/model/356688-chicken-mold-butter), I was able to make it into a low-poly model and tweak it for 3D printing. Because this model was already made without supports, it allowed for minimal adjustment to make the low-poly version look nice. Thus, this model is easy to print and has no supports!
Printing and Tips
Since this model is meant to be a decoration, the printing parameters don't need to be intense. The provided photos of the low-poly chicken were printed with 2 perimeters and 8% infill. Change these parameters as you want depending on your desired finish. As said before, you can print this model without supports. The model shown in the pictures is printed at 300% scale.
For the multi-color, there are two main parts that are colored. These parts are the comb (piece on top of the head) and wattle (piece below the beak) of the chicken. I simply colored these in the slicer to give me their respective coloring.
Finally, if you want to sell this model, please contact me. I have worked hard on this model, so I would like to arrange something if selling is the plan. If you plan to give this model as a gift, feel free to do so without hesitation!
Thank you for your interest and Happy Printing!
