Replacement windshield for a 16 foot Carolina Skiff. A close family friend was lamenting about how difficult it was to get a replacement windshield for his boat and that he was having a difficult time finding one that was not wildly overpriced. What I have designed is a simple 4 clamp solution that allows you to affix all mounted pieces in place and then attach a 24" wide piece of .25inch plexiglass to the mounting points. The plexiglass is meant sit snuggly withing the clamps and be held in place with pressure. No drilling or permanant alterations are required for the boat or the plexiglass windshield. If you desire a piece of plexiglass that is less than 24" x 24", most hardware stores where you would purchase the plexiglass would have the ability to cut it for you. Hardware and instructions are listed below.
Hardware: (14) M5 x 25mm flat head (countersunk) (14) M5 square nuts (1) 24" wide by 1/4" thick plexiglass or solid color polycarbonate (glass is not recommended)
Print instructions: Print in PETG preferably. 3 walls or 20 walls for a solid print. PLA would probably work just fine if you printed it solid. The first letter of the designation PT,PB,ST,SB stands for either Port or Starboard and the second letter stand for either Top or Bottom. The part called PT would stand for "Port; Top". These hinges are print in place with no additional assembly required before mounting them on the tube steel grab bar attached to the center console.
I will work on getting some photos of the windshield installed on the boat. I may also add to this in the future a cup holder or something fun to give it some more functionality. I am very impressed with how much clamping force there is with just barely any tension on the screws.
