Multiboard AMS Shelf

Remix of Multiboard T-bolts used to lock anything with a threaded push-fit into a Multiboard panel.
New Multiboard parts such as the Heavy Weight Snap and Thead-lock have made these a little obsolete, but my remix still have their use cases.

Multiboard Secure T-bolts

Items needed to build a Multibin 4x4x4 bin shell, with 4 4x4x4 drawers.  Mix and match parts to satisfy your own requirements.

Multibin 4x4x4 Drawers

AMS shelf base to mount your AMS to the Multiboard system.  This is based on my original design found here [Multiboard AMS Shelf and Build Plate Holder](https://makerworld.com/en/models/425880#profileId-340170).  While it works well and has held my AMS for months without issue, this new design takes advantage of the recent Multiboard parts update by using newly available parts.

**Update**
I received a couple of comments that there are fitment issues with some AMS models.  There appear to be multiple versions of the AMS shipping (as of Oct 2024) with differences in the case design.   The latest version of the model should be compatible with all AMS versions.

Requires the following Multiboard 3D printed parts to complete the shelf:

**New Plate Holder**
Addition of plate holder that mounts on the between (2) [7x7 Multiboard Tile Bracket](https://than.gs/m/974123) attached to the inside of the heavy brackets.  Use (2) [Multiboard Snap](https://than.gs/m/974295) with (2) [Small Thread - Lite Multipoint](https://than.gs/m/1123321) to mount the Plate Holder to the Multiboard tiles.

**Mounting the Self Bases to the Bracket**

Insert the [8x8 Bracket - Bolt-Locked Inserts](https://than.gs/m/1130435) pegs into the appropriate holes in the shelf bases.  Use (4) [Mid Hole - Bolt Locker](https://than.gs/m/1130438), one in each peg to secure the shelf bases and bracket together.  Super simple.

**Mounting to your Multiboard**

The AMS shelf consists of (2) [8x8 Bracket - Bolt-Locked Inserts](https://than.gs/m/1130435). The brackets should be spaced 14 holes apart (left to right) and the pegs require 8 holes vertically.

The [8x8 Bracket - Bolt-Locked Inserts](https://than.gs/m/1130435) attach to your Multiboard tiles via a [Heavy Weight-Bearing Hook Snap](https://than.gs/m/1130430) on the top-most peg. The [Heavy Weight-Bearing Hook Snap](https://than.gs/m/1130430) is then secured by using a [Small Thread - Lite Multipoint](https://than.gs/m/1123321) screwed into the push-fit peg on the bracket. Alternatively, you can use one of my Multiboard remixed [Multiboard T-bolt 25mm wide head with offset](https://than.gs/m/1052045), that lock the bracket into the Multiboard tile from the rear and also act as additional tile support against your mounting surface.  The disadvantage of using my bolt, is that you must remove the Multiboard tile from the wall for installation.

For the other pegs on the bracket, I HIGHLY suggest using a Double-Sided Offset Snap, either the single version or the dual version for the bottom 2 pegs.  You may already have snaps available on your existing Multiboard tiles that you can use.  The key point here, is to make sure the bracket is supported directly against the wall behind the bracket, or else the Multiboard tile will flex.

**UPDATED**
New versions use [Heavy Weight-Bearing Hook Snaps](https://than.gs/m/1130430), which will allow you to install the shelf bracket without removal of the Multiboard tiles.

**Multiboard Filament Spool Rack**
Brackets to use with your Multiboard tiles and wooden dowels/closet rods to store filament spools.

The brackets are designed to fit 1.25" wooden dowels/closet rods that can be found at your local hardware store. I've also included various metric versions as well. Let me know if anyone needs to a different diameter and I will post additional print profiles that fit your needs.

**Mounting to your Multiboard**
Updated the push-connect pegs to the new Bolt-locked pegs.  The new model **IS NOT COMPATABLE** with my [remixed Multiboard T-bolts](https://than.gs/m/1052045). The new method has the advantage that it **does not require removal** of the Multiboard tiles.

**Required Multiboard Parts:**
- (1) Heavy Weight-Bearing Hook Snaps
- (1) Small Thread - Lite Multipoint **(I HIGHLY suggest printing these in PETG)**

    Optional - depending on your setup:
- (1) 13 mm Big Thread, Flat Head, Push-Fit Hole, Bolt (if you are using 8mm offset mounts)

Place the [Heavy Weight-Bearing Hook Snaps](https://than.gs/m/1130430) onto the peg on the top bracket and secure using the [Small Thread - Lite Multipoint](https://than.gs/m/1123321).

For the bottom peg, I used these [13 mm Big Thread, Flat Head, Push-Fit Hole, Bolts](https://than.gs/m/974374) screwed into the Multiboard. Use a spare push peg to help screw it in, if needed.  When screwed in all the way, the bottom of the bolt sits flush against the wall if you are using the 8mm offset mounts, helping to support the bottom of the bracket.  You may also use any other open snap you might already have on your Multiboard setup.

Depending on how many spools you intend to hang from this rack, you may want to reinforce your Multiboard tiles around the brackets with additional wall-mount snaps.  This will reduce the amount of flex on the Multiboard tiles to avoid any potential failures of the system.

**Brackets can be printed using standard Multiboard print settings: 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layers, 15% infill, random seams for strength.** Supports are recommended for the push-fit pegs, but not required.

**Version 2.1 Changes:** Updated push-fit pegs to new Multiboard standard bolt-locked inserts.  This allows you to use a [Small Thread - Lite Multipoint](https://than.gs/m/1123321) to lock in a [Heavy Weight-bearing Hook Snap](https://than.gs/m/1130430) to insure the spool holder never falls of the Multiboard tile.  I've never experienced the spool holder falling off the Multiboard, but if any of you have here is your solution.  If you don't have any issues with this, there is no need to update.

**Version 2.0 Changes:** Modified frame to take up less real estate on the Multiboard tiles.  Added some texture to the frame for aesthetics.  Roller and axles remain unchanged.

**Multiboard Mounted Spool Roller/Holder**
Spool roller for Multiboard system.  I designed this to hold spools for my Bambu XC1 that aren't compatible with the AMS.

Consists of four parts for easy of printing, and uses two 608 bearings on the axles.

Attaches to Multiboard tiles using two push-fit pegs.  You can use existing offset snaps used to mount your tiles to the wall or any other snaps.  I prefer to use the [Weight-Bearing Directional Snaps](https://than.gs/m/989145).  The push-fit pegs include small-threaded holes, so you can utilize my [remixed T-bolts ](https://than.gs/m/1052045) to secure the spool roller even more.

**Print Settings**
Use standard Multiboard print settings, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, 3 walls, and 15% infill.  You can increase the main frame's infill to 30% for extra strength, but not really necessary.  Orient the parts on the print bed as shown in the 2nd photo.

**Main Frame:** Designed to be printed horizontally, like it would hanging from the Mutliboard tile.  It can be printed without supports, but I recommend using supports on the push-fit pegs to guarantee a perfect fit.

**Roller and Axles:** Print oriented vertically, no supports required.

**Assembly**
Insert the axles into the roller.  The tolerances are tight, but they should push-in with a little effort.  Slide the 608 bearings onto each axle, then the roller assembly should fit into the frame.  The bearing should snap lightly into the frame. Again, the tolerances are tight, but if everything is aligned correctly it fits together easily and rolls without resistance.

**Plate Holder**
The plate holder is designed to fit on the inside of the [AMS Shelf Brackets](https://than.gs/m/1054307), by attaching to the Multiboard brackets. The plate holder holds up to four plates, in a staggard fashion so you can easily see and grab the plate you want. You can add multiple pairs of plate holders and stack them on the shelf bracket and hold as many plates as you want (within reason).

For multiple plate holders, stagger the holders 2 Multiboard units apart.  You can swap the left/right holders to opposite sides of the AMS Shelf Brackets if you'd rather have the top plate sticking out the furthest or vice-versa. 

I used Multiboard double-side snaps (part A) on the plate holder so you can use the [Part B](https://than.gs/m/974407) on the outside of the brackets for a nice, clean look. This also means you can use these snaps to attach other things using the same mounting point on the outside using push-fit pegs or medium threaded bolts. 

**Warning: the snaps pieces on the Plate Holder are delicate!** I increased the tolerances on the snap fittings to make it easier to push in, but I recommend laying the bracket on a flat surface and pushing the Plate Holder straight into the Multiboard tile, or else risk breaking the snap attachment on the plateholder.

**AMS Shelf Brackets**
AMS shelf brackets for use with the Multiboard system.  The AMS shelf brackets consist of left and right brackets with integrated Multiboard tiles. The brackets require at least 2 Multiboard 8x8 tiles for mounting and should be spaced 14 holes apart (left to right) and the pegs are 8 holes apart from each other (vertical).

Printed using standard Multiboard print setting.  While it can be printed without any supports, **supports are recommended**, otherwise you will be cleaning up stringy leftovers around the push-fit pegs.

**Mounting to your Multiboard**
The brackets attach to your Multiboard tiles via push-fit pegs that fit into Multiboard snaps. The brackets are then secured with t-bolts from the back. Use my Multiboard remixed t-bolts [Multiboard T-Bolt 25mm head, 13mm length with 8mm offset](https://than.gs/m/1052045), that lock the bracket into the Multiboard tile from the rear and also act as additional tile support against your mounting surface. I personally use a [Multiboard Weight-Bearing Directional Snap](https://than.gs/m/989145) (normal snaps work fine as well) with one of my [t-bolts](https://than.gs/m/1052045) on the top of each bracket. On the bottom pegs, I use the [Multiboard 8 mm, T Mounting Offset Snap - DS Part A](https://than.gs/m/974340) snaps mounted to the wall for additional support, as there's not much worry about the bottom pegs pulling out.

Depending on how you've mounted your Multiboard tiles you may want to add additional offset snap mounts anchored to the wall behind or around the brackets. I found it helpful to use a dual snap between tiles to prevent the tiles from flexing. The shelf brackets themselves are quite solid.

**I highly recommend making sure that you secure the tiles around the bracket with wall anchors to prevent flexing of the Multiboard tiles.** Again, the bracket themselves are rock solid and don't exhibit any flexing, but the tiles they are mounted to need to be solid themselves or the brackets and AMS will sag.

The spacing of the rear support is enough so that you can open the AMS cover enough to access everything you need.

I designed this to use with my [Multiboard AMS Shelf Brackets and Plate Holder](https://than.gs/m/1054307)

This is a remix of the [Multiboard Small Thread, Plain Head, Shank T-Bolt](https://thangs.com/search/%22MB57%22%20creator%3A%22Keep%20Making%22?scope=thangs&view=list&affiliateCode=hendricks) with various use cases. 4 different variations are included here.
 
Advantages to this design:

1. The head of the bolt is 25mm wide, which enables the bolt to actually prevent a snap or shelf bracket to pull out of a Multiboard tile.
2. The head of the bolt also acts as a support offset, meaning that the head is meant to rest against the wall surface to provide additional support to the Multiboard tile, instead of flexing under the weight of a shelf bracket.
3. Bigger head make the bolt easier to tighten by hand.

Depending on your setup, you may be required to remove the Multiboard tile from the wall in order to install the t-bolt from the back.
