Venus Flytrap Snack Clips - Here is my first make! Not too shabby. I printed the base with zero infill and no top layers so I could add the rocks. I'll probably modify the file so I can print with a solid top just recessed to use less rocks next time. Also used a Dremel to notch the traps so the latch has something to bite onto. Has a nice satisfying snap sound now when engaging the lock. - 3d model

Venus Flytrap Snack Clips - Finally done! Took me WEEKS to get my printer refurbished and calibrated but I really wanted to make some of these plant prints. - 3d model

Venus Flytrap Snack Clips - printing on its side with "critical support only" seems to be the best result. I slowed down to 50/60mm/s and compared with 100-200mm/s and saw no appreciable difference, other than saving about 38% on print time on my Bambu p1s.
some small overhang ugliness around the locking mechanism, but some careful sanding fixed that up for me.

10/10 this is super neat, and a welcome addition to my kitchen - 3d model

The Venus Snack Trap! This plant is perfect for displaying in your kitchen so you always have bag clips available.

I designed this to resemble the Venus Flytrap plant as closely as possible while still being functional.

To print this, make sure your printer is calibrated well. The gaps are 0.2mm so you'll have to be sure your printer can handle those tolerances.

I printed the traps on their side using tree supports which remove fairly easily

Assembly:

  1. Remove supports from traps
  2. Break the locking tab and mouth free (I used a flathead screwdriver)
  3. Glue inner mouth pieces into flytrap using glue of choice. Make sure all supports are cleaned off the traps, especially inside the holes.
  4. Stick Stems into base, bend to get desires look (use heat gun to bend easier)
  5. Stick traps onto stems. No need to push them all the way on.
  6. Enjoy! To use your traps, snap them onto a bag, and then lock them shut using the locking tab. If you have a hard time getting yours to lock, use it a few times to wear it in.

Filament used: Green plant color: Overture Olive Green PLA

Red mouth color: GiantArm Matte Terracotta PLA
