Chopstick Making Jig

Chopstick Making Jig/Tool for Japanese Style chopsticks. 7mm Forward 2.5mm Aft. ~230mm long.

Instructions:

  1. Run a 3/8th blank on the left side until planer no longer shaves
  2. Run to far right
  3. Run middle to cut the octagon shape on the aft end

I'm using a ~2.1" wide japanese planer that i got off amazon. use whatever feels best.

Great and simple print. While my Kakuri didn't fit (need a bit more clearance around 1mm.) my Stanley block plane did fit perfectly in the inner gutter. Need to shave a bit until it forms its own gutter. Will try making chopsticks soon! Great model👍🏾

Woah! great to see!! love the color combo. Just a heads up, if you shave your own gutter you'll be taking a little bit of the thickness on the chopsticks themselves. I'll play around with Thangs to see if I can make an "editor" version where folks can just put what width their planers are :)

This has been a fun weekend project for me especially with the holidays coming up. I just posted an update to the file to show what my final ones came out like. I did laser engrave the logo on them :)

What orientation did you print this in?

Face up, supports on the bottom side since there is a lip. It keeps the bottom side rough due to the supports which is nice since the added grit helps with traction and keeps the top surfaces smooth and dimensionally correct.
