Large Mizu Gumi Picture Stands
This collection of 3 large picture stands uses a Japanese woodworking technique to eliminate the need for glue.
First-time assembly is a bit like a puzzle, but it’s easy once you figure out the trick!
The number in the file name indicates the height in millimeters. Print a “Side A” and “Side B” for each stand.
This style of joinery is also known as “Neire Kumi Tsugi” or “Twisted Box Joint”. It is celebrated for interlocking two pieces of wood at an angle using a complex, diagonal interlocking mechanism that securely locks without glue or fasteners.
The pieces are joined Diagonally by sliding them together along a diagonal axis. This unique assembly is what allows them joint to resist pulling and twisting forces.
