The roads in this sculpture follow the concave “valleys” of the gyroid triply periodic minimal surface.
There are two separate non-intersecting road networks. If you can’t get to where you’re trying to go, maybe you’re on the wrong road. It’s really easy to get lost inside a gyroid.

This is an advance print that will require a lot of post process cleaning, especially if printed on an FDM printer.
The model pictured shows a matrix of 1.5 unit cells in all directions. It has been sliced in thirds to facilitate FDM printing. You will need to print two of “Gyroad A” and one of “Gyroad B”. Start with “Gyroad A” the bottom, place “Gyroad B” on top, and final another “Gyroad A” on top of that. Glue them together carefully.
Printing “Gyroad Full” may be possible with SLA or SLS technology although this has not been tested.
“Gyroad Unit Cell” can be patterned infinitely in any direction, so you can make a sculpture as big as you want. Outside installation piece perhaps?
