These are the Flying Dragon Spine Huggers! These dragons were modified from the Dragons in Flight wall-hanging model I originally released nearly two years ago. I shrunk them down and redesigned them into spine huggers that can slide between books on your shelf to create a flying dragon sequence across your bookcase.

The spine insert/tab prints separately and slides into place after printing. Once assembled, you can wedge the tab between two book spines to make the dragons appear like they’re flying directly through your shelves.

I printed mine using Bambu Lab Onyx Sparkle Black, which gave the dragons an awesome shimmer, and then brushed some gold rub n buff on them.

For the spine insert, I highly recommend using Basic PLA instead of sparkle filament. Some sparkle filaments tend to expand slightly and can make the slot fit tighter than intended.

Recommended Print Settings

• Layer Height: 0.16mm
• Walls: Arachne Walls enabled
• Wall Loops: 2
• Infill: 10% Gyroid
• Supports: Tree Supports ON
• Outer Wall Speed: 100mm/s
• Inner Wall Speed: 100mm/s
• Printer Used: Bambu Lab A1

Each dragon takes around 20g of filament and 1.5 hours to print.

If the wings give you any trouble during printing, try slowing the print speeds down even more for extra stability and cleaner wing tips.
