MALLA | Woven String Art Deco

3D printed woven texture meets String Art

This wall deco blends 2 of my favourite concepts: • a lightweight but strong woven pattern that makes the outer ring • and String Art printing in mid-air without supports.

It comes in 3 sizes to fit all printers: • Ø250mm • Ø208mm • Ø178mm

And it can be printed with a regular 0.4 or 0.8mm nozzle. Check out the detailed print settings (but nothing particularly tricky).

3D PRINT SETTINGS: The STL files are already oriented properly.

You can pick between 2 types of weave width:

a 0.9mm weave to be printed with a 0.4mm nozzle, 2 wall lines
a 1.7mm weave to be printed with a 0.8mm nozzle, 2 wall lines.

The strings print better and cleaner with a 0.4mm nozzle, since the lines are more lightweight. But 0.8mm nozzle lines work too (so 1.7mm weave), are more visible and particularly nice as a wall deco item.

The only trick is to set the layer height to 0.3mm.

For a 0.4mm nozzle: • Use the 0.9mm weave STL files • Layer height: 0.3mm/layer (ignore the layer height warning) • Line width: 0.5mm or set the "wall generator" to "Arachne for Bambu Studio users. • Build adhesion type: None • Supports: None

For a 0.8mm nozzle: • Use the 1.7mm weave STL files • Layer height: 0.3mm/layer (ignore the layer height warning) • Line width: 0.85mm or set the "wall generator" to "Arachne for Bambu Studio users. • Build adhesion type: None • Supports: None
