Skadis Push To Open Drawer
Upgrade your IKEA SKÅDIS setup with this 3D printed push-to-open drawer, designed to add clean hidden storage to your pegboard without needing a bulky handle. This drawer is made for small parts, tools, desk accessories, and everyday maker supplies that you want easy access to while keeping your workspace organized.
Instead of pulling the drawer open, this design uses a push-to-open mechanism. Press the front of the drawer and it pops open with a satisfying mechanical click. Push it back in and it locks closed neatly, giving the drawer a clean, minimal look while still being functional and fun to use.
This drawer is great for storing small items like:
SD cards USB drives Screws and nuts Nozzles Small tools Craft supplies Desk accessories Tiny parts for 3D printing, electronics, or workshop projects
The model is designed to mount onto an IKEA SKÅDIS-style pegboard, making it a useful add-on for 3D printing stations, maker walls, craft rooms, office setups, and workbenches. It gives you a hidden storage spot while keeping your most-used small parts close by.
This model does require supports. Supports are needed for the SKÅDIS mounting hooks and the underside drawer area. After printing, remove the supports carefully and clean up any rough edges or stringing so the drawer can slide smoothly and the push-to-open action works properly.
Required Hardware / Rubber Bands
This model uses small rubber bands to power the push-to-open mechanism.
Recommended rubber bands:
Bambu Lab Rubber Bands - 1.4×20mm Black Use these for the tensioner/follower pin system. This is the main rubber band size recommended for the push-to-open action. Uxcell 1.4×20mm Rubber Bands Alternative option if you need a similar 1.4×20mm rubber band.
The drawer mechanism can use either:
1.4×20mm rubber band 1.4×40mm rubber band
The tensioner/follower pin system should use:
1.4×20mm rubber band
You can get the recommended Bambu Lab rubber bands here: Bambu Lab Rubber Bands
Print all the included parts. Remove supports from the SKÅDIS hooks and the underside drawer area. Clean up any stringing, rough edges, or support marks from the sliding surfaces. Install the rubber band into the push-to-open mechanism. Use a 1.4×20mm rubber band for the tensioner/follower pin system. The drawer mechanism can use either a 1.4×20mm or 1.4×40mm rubber band depending on the tension you want. Insert the drawer into the main body/housing. Test the push-to-open action before mounting it to your SKÅDIS board. Mount the drawer onto your SKÅDIS pegboard and make sure it sits securely.
If the drawer feels tight, lightly sand the sliding surfaces or check that the supports were fully removed. A clean slide path will help the drawer open and close with a smoother, more satisfying click.
