Gift Box #12 Print-in-Place Version

This is the twelfth version in a series gift boxes that may all look the same on the outside but they each have a secret way of opening. To open this one, turn the bow 90 degrees. Turning this rotates gears underneath which unlatch the top. A torsion spring keeping the lid from unlocking accidently.

This is the print in place version that prints in only two pieces with the bows attached. The version that allows you to print the bows separately in a different color and glue them on is available here.

Printed with Sovol Dual Color Filament.

Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top prints in place as one part, none of the parts require supports, designed for a .4mm nozzle. I printed everything at .2 layer heights but the box could definitely be printed at a larger layer height without issue.

Printed on the Muldex rep-rap IDEX printer.

Other Gift Boxes You can find ALL the other gift boxes in the Puzzle Present Collection.

I am printing Gift Box 12 on a Creality K1, using silk filament and it's printing at 300mmps.. These come out so nice and working perfectly from the print bed! They are a hit with all my friends :D I can print out the lid in just over 4 hours and the bottom in just over 3 hours.

Do you have a test file? I printed this, and the little gears are all fused together and do not turn. I'm not really sure what settings need to be changed. Do you have ideas? Or is there an easier box to try to print for my first one?

You could try this fidget for a test print. Its probably fusing at the layer seam. Normally retraction setting can help to make it smaller.

i had random layer seams... i'll try this test!

The top printed nicely, but I cannot get the bow to rotate. Has anyone had this issue? Would printing at a higher resolution fix this?

Possibly. You might also want to print a benchmark model and check for tolerances and stringing. The last time I had an issue with a print-in-place, I had stringing so bad it basically fused the moving parts together.
