Gift Box #1 Quantum Addition

Gift Box Series This is one of a set of gift box that I’m designing for Christmas this year. All the boxes are similar in size and shape but each one opens differently. If you print one I would love to see it, be sure to post it here or tag me on your socials.

I hope everyone enjoys printing them as much their loved ones will enjoy receiving them! 🎅🎁

Other Gift Boxes You can find ALL the other gift boxes in the Puzzle Present Collection.

Gift Box #1 Quantum Addition

This box is the same as the first gift box in this series but I modified it with ribs to better show of Matterhackers new Quantum(aff.) dual color filament.

To open it just turn the bow, the bow rotates a spur gear which pulls back the catches and unlocks it. The catches are spring loaded so you don’t have to worry about the box opening when you don’t want it to. There is a stop so the bow cannot be over rotated.

Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top prints in place as one part, none of the parts require supports. The bow and ribbons are printed separately and glued on. I printed all the parts in the orientation provided. I prefer the vertical orientation for the ribbons for a smoother surface finish. I added helper pads to them to keep them stable during printing. I printed everything at .2 layer heights but the box could definitely be printed at a larger layer height without issue.

This thang only contains box, please find the bow, and top and bottom ribbons here (less files to update should the design change)

I used Gorilla Glue(aff.) for gluing on the ribbons. Put the glue in the middle and let it naturally spread out. If you don’t already own as set of these clamps(aff.) you should pick them up, they really help with gluing the ribbons on.
Printed on the Muldex rep-rap IDEX printer.

Note: Assembly model for reference only.

Thank you! I just received my Quantum filament today, so this is perfect timing! I'm getting some manifold errors in PrusaSlicer for the lid/top, which it auto-corrected. I'm not sure if I should be concerned, but I'll try it out and report back.

That's strange, because in its drawn in Inventor as a solid. I'm not using PS but I've never had a single issue with any of my models printing. I belt it will be fine. Post a picture when its done, I would love to see it!
